Te wiki o te reo Maori
Today in Kia Kaha we had a go at a digital break out because it is te wiki o te reo Maori.
We had to figure out clues and work out the answers to solve the puzzles. There colours, we had to do a puzzle and then translate the maori colours in to English then use the first letter of the colour to solve the colour lock!
That one was easy.
We had to look carefully for the clues. We worked together to solve the puzzles.
Click here if you would like to try our digital breakout. Good luck!

Through the eyes of our Māori Artist.
This term, we are learning about Māori Artist.
- What skills are needed to have such talent? Why they become artist.
Our opening question over the past week has been what is an Artist. After further discussions, we have come up that an artist can be anyone that is wanting to share their ideas, thoughts through the stroke of a paint brush, pencil, ink and lyrics. Creating Masterpieces with words and Images.
These are some people that we found to be a part of the world of ART

Tū Ata Mai i te Ipurangi workshops - Google Drawings
Over the past few weeks, Kia Kaha have had the privilege and honour of working with Vicki Archer, who is a facilitator from Manaiakalani. Tū Atamai i te Ipurangi is using chromebooks in class and becoming CYBERSMART
As an introduction to learning about the Cyber World, and the applications provided by Google, students have been learning new skills using Google Drawing. This enables the students to become creative in their own way with guidance and assistance.
Week 1 and Week 2 - All About Us! (independently/ in groups and pairs)
We have been creating their own profile webs. These have been fun and enjoyable for both the tauira and myself as a teacher/learner.
Skills we have learnt:
- Inserting images by using the web search, amending pictures into shapes.
- Using WordArt to make the text more effective on display and to the reader. Colour contrast and texture.
Here is one crafted by Shakylah
